Currently, Xylella fastidiosa is one of the greatest potential threats to crops that are so important in our agriculture as citrus, almond or olive groves. The bacterial damage can be devastating, since a few months after the appearance of the first symptoms the cup is seriously affected. In less than two years, the trees are practically dry in their entirety. It is also a threat to the Huanglongbing (HLB), the vector is located in the south of Portugal. The day will present the situation of these bacteria and the preventive measures to avoid its introduction and its diffusion from infected areas.

The day “Emerging diseases and pests in citrus fruit”, organized by the Comunidad Valenciana Foundation Cajamar, in collaboration with the IVIA and the Council of Verger, is part of the Training Program financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development – EU.
